China 1949-1997

The Chines started out only encouraged to have only one
child , but later on the Chinese Government made it illegal to have
more than one child.
Mao Zedong in 1949 became the leader of the
communists in China. Most people in the Chinese Government
wanted (since at the time China was in poverty) to follow the way
that the Russian Communists did things.
Mao Zedong didn't want to follow and do everything that the Russian Communists did.
In 1966 Mao Zedong formed the Cultural Revolution. Students who were taught how to farm taught other people how to grow basic plants to keep them alive. Such as corn green beans etc...
Even though Mao Zedong did this, the Chinese people where still suffering from lack of food.
