Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler was born on April 20th, 1889, in a small village in Austria. Adolf’s father Alois Hitler was a stern and strict father. Alois Hitler had a difficult childhood. His name was Alois Shickelgruber; his parents died when he was 10 years old, so he went and lived with his uncle whose last name was Heidler, when Alois’s uncle was old and soon expected to die, he told Alois that if Alois would change his last name to Heidler (to carry on the family name) that he would put him in his will. But someone spelled the name wrong and it turned out to be Hitler instead of Heidler.
In 1885, Alois Hitler married Klara Polzl. In 1895 (after Adolf Hitler was born) Edmund Hitler was born. And then in 1896 Paula Hitler was born.
At the age of six (Adolf was eleven) Adolf Hitler’s brother died of measles.
After Adolf was finished with primary school, he was sent to a technical school in Linz. Austria. Although his father Alois wanted him to go to a military school, Adolf Hitler eventually went to the technical school.
Linz is near the border of Germany, many people were drawn to the city. The two nations Austria and Germany, were very peaceful nations, since the city of Linz, is near the border of Germany, and Austria, a mixture of these two people came to Linz.
At the time when Adolf went to school in Linz, Austria was known as the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Germany was a very powerful nation. It was formed in the 19th century by a man named Otto Von Bismark.
Most people in Germany spoke the same language, unlike Austria, which had many languages. Since Adolf Hitler went to school in Linz, he learned a lot about the German and Austrian cultures.
After sometime, Adolf Hitler began to believe his ancestors where German.
While Adolf Hitler was still in school, his father Alois Hitler died, Alois Hitler died at the age of 65 in the year of 1903.
After his father died, Adolf Hitler began failing many subjects at school. Eventually he failed school and had to leave.
Later on, on 1907, Adolf Hitler decided to become an artist. He wanted to go to a school called the FAMED ACADEMY OF ARTS. But he was rejected here as well.
When Adolf Hitler came back, he found out that his mother was dying of a breast cancer. Adolf Hitler took great care for her, but as much as he helped his mother, she died on December 21, 1907.
After his mother died Adolf Hitler went to live in Vienna, so he could try to be accepted at the famed academy. He was accepted.
In 1908 Adolf Hitler and his friend Kubizek lived in an apartment together in Vienna. At the time about 2 million people lived in Vienna, Austria.
Adolf Hitler and Kubizek often attended the opera, one of Adolf’s favorite composers was Richard Wagner, and Richard was an anti-Semite. (This means he was against Jews)
Kubizek went on to the military training for a while, when he came back he found out that Adolf Hitler had moved out. Adolf started in political clubs, but soon had to start begging and ate at the soup kitchens. And he had to sleep on benches.
When Hitler turned 21 he stopped receiving his pension. He did odd jobs for a while to earn money.
Adolf Hitler’s first battle was against the British and Belgian armies near Ypres, Belgium. The battle of Ypres went on for, four days. In Adolf’s group 2,500 out of 3,000 died or were injured. Hitler was a messenger in their group.
In the summer of 1916, Hitler and his group moved south, to the Battle of Somme, a river north of Paris.
Later on, Hitler had been injured so he had to be taken to the hospital when he came back he joined his old group.
Later, in April 1917 the United States entered on the side of the French and the British.
On January 1918, workers went on strike. In Berlin 400.00 workers stopped their shops. As the war droned on many soldiers stopped taking directions.
Adolf Hitler was forced to stop fighting, because of his temporary blindness.
On June 28, 1919, a treaty was signed that said World War 1 had ended and that the Germans had lost.
Adolf Hitler was stationed in Munich, in the summer of 1919. The president of Germany, Friedrich Ebert, feared that there would be a civil war in Germany. So he ordered that the Maxists to be kept out of the volunteer army, so they wouldn’t take over the army.
A secret military group was formed to keep the Maxists out. Hitler was chosen to be an informer. But before he became the informer he had to take special classes at the University of Munich.
In September 1919 Adolf Hitler was ordered to investigate a political group in Munich. The meeting only had 25 people. Later on Adolf decided to join the political group.
In February 1921 Adolf spoke to 6 thousand people. He talked about how the Jews should be arrested. After the meeting, Adolf Hitler began going to different meetings.
In 1921, France and England demand that Germany pay them $33 billion for the damages of war. But in Germany 75 dollars to Germans is one dollar to England and France. And then the worth of German money dropped. Eventually 160,000 dollars in German money was worth 1 dollar in England and France! So Germany became in debt.
One of the meetings Adolf Hitler went to, thought Adolf Hitler was being to much of a dictator. So seeing that no one in that group wanted him to stay he stopped going to that group. But the people at the meeting regretted what happened, and they begged Adolf Hitler to come back, but he said he would only rejoin if the meeting made him in charge of the entire meeting. They agreed. Adolf Hitler was plotting ways of kidnapping the leaders of Bavaria and force them to make him Fuher (meaning leader) of Bavaria. But when he and his army tried to do this, Adolf Hitler was arrested. During his time in prison, Adolf wrote a book called “My Struggle.”
Adolf Hitler was released from prison on December 24; he was in jail for nine months. During his time in jail (besides writing his book) Adolf Hitler was thinking of ways for the Nazis to be a form of government. But when he got out of jail, Adolf Hitler was told that the Nazis had been banned by the leaders of the country.
Later, Adolf Hitler convinced the prime minister to permit the Nazis party to continue. During the Nazi meetings Adolf Hitler threatened the leaders. Since he did this, the Bavarian government wouldn’t let Adolf Hitler to speak in public for two years. Adolf Hitler used this time to think of plans to reform the Nazi ‘Government.’
When Adolf Hitler was able to speak in public again, he put his plans into action. He was hoping that the economy would stay low, because then more people would join the Nazi government. The Great Depression occurred on the date of October 1929.
In the year of 1930, Nazis had a big election that reached across Germany. In his speeches Adolf Hitler promised work for all people that didn’t have work. And glory for Germany.
The Nazis received over 6,000,000 votes. They won 107 seats in Reichstag, so at the time, the Nazis were the second largest political party in Germany.
Hitler decided to run for chancellor of Germany. On March 1932, Adolf Hitler received over 11,000,000 votes, but the election was a tie. So another election was held in April 10, Hitler lost to Hindenburg.
Later another election was held on the end of July. The Nazis got 37% of the votes, and won 123 seats. So now the total of seat that the Nazis had was 230 seats. On the next election the Nazis lost 34 seats.
In January another election was held and Adolf Hitler became the Chancellor of Germany. He was sworn into office on January 30th.
On February 22, Hitler ordered Goring to establish a secret police known as Gestapo. Gestapo contained fifty-thousand men.

Adolf Hitler, with help of Reichstag, used the German law 48, stating that under emergency situations the leader would become a dictator. So now there was no democracy.
On April 1, 1933 Adolf Hitler told all Germans to boycott Jewish stores. If anyone was caught buying from the Jews, then, they would be arrested. This was the first act of the Holocaust.
Holocaust means a great disaster or destruction. But in this case it refers to the Nazis.
On the date of April 1st, 1933, the Nazis stormed around Jewish shops holding up signs that read: German people defend yourselves. Don’t buy from Jews!
This boycott that Adolf Hitler ordered only lasted a day. Six days after the boycott on April 22nd, Jews were banned from going into hospitals, universities and weren’t aloud to go to the police for things. On April 25th, Jews were forced to take their children out of public schools. On September 29th, Jews were not aloud to get jobs in: Literature, art, film, and the theater. By October Jews weren’t aloud to be journalists, and the Nazis started taking over the newspaper.
On May 10th, 1933, Adolf Hitler ordered the Nazis to burn all non-German books. All of these were burned in front of the Berlin Opera House.
A man named Erust Rohm planned a revolt against Hitler. Hitler was worried and told Erust that his troop, would no longer be on Germanys army. When Adolf Hitler heard Erust was planning a revolt he had him arrested on the date of June 30th, 1934.
After this, Hitler decided to make sure that everyone in his country was loyal. So, he had files made of everyone in the country. Their backgrounds, their jobs, the place they lived, and everything about everyone in the country.
On the day of September 1935, a law was passed saying it was illegal for Jews to marry Germans.
In early 1933, Hitler made the first German concentration camps. By the end of the year 1933 Adolf Hitler ordered for 50 concentration camps to be created for Jews who said the slightest thing wrong about the Nazis, or about Adolf Hitler.
Besides the Jews, there were other problems, he needed a bigger army, so ignoring the treaty that the Germans had made, called the Treaty of Versailles, Hitler began drafting men so he can make a larger army. When Adolf Hitler was finished drafting people he had five hundred, thousand. A little later, Adolf ordered that the Nazis make submarines, planes, weapons, and other things that Adolf Hitler ordered for war.
On March 7th, 1936, the German army took over the Rhine River, this alarmed many nations about how large and powerful the Nazi Nation is.
On the date of November 5th, 1937, Adolf Hitler signed a treaty with Poland, saying that the Nazis troops wouldn’t attack The Polish people.
On Hitler’s command, Nazi troops attacked Austria, March 12th, 1938. He wanted to rule the world, and he got close. After invading Austria, Hitler moved the Nazis to Linz, on the border of Germany and Austria. Next they conquered Vienna.
Sudetenland in October 1st, 1938. After they took over Sudetenland, Adolf Hitler had the Nazis arrest seventeen thousand Polish Jews who lived in Germany. After they arrested them they took them to Poland and left, the Polish Jews that they left there were not permitted in Poland, because they were still German citizens.
On March 15th, 1939, Czechoslovakia surrendered to Hitler the leader of Germany.
On August 31st, 1939, Adolf Hitler declared war on Poland, even though he signed a treaty with the leader of Poland, he did. On September 3rd, Great Britain and France declared war on Germany, because they where allies with Poland. This was the beginning of World War 2!
In less then a month the German armies reached the capital of Poland, Warsaw. Poland surrendered on September 27th. Adolf Hitler gave a large part of Poland to the Soviet Union.
On April 1940, Hitler moved his army to Norway, Belgium, France, and Luxembourg. All of these nations fell under the power of Adolf Hitler. After France had been ceased, the Nazis took over Great Britain. Then Germany bombed London and other big Britain cities from 1941-1942.
While invading these different countries, the Holocaust attacked and killed over 120,000 Jews just in Poland!
A man by the name of Reinhard Heydrich was appointed by Adolf Hitler himself to figure out a way to massacre all of the Jews. So Reinhard Heydrich created a village like place for the Jews to be kept until the Nazis killed them. The villages he created were called ghettos; they were very poor kept, many Jews died from diseases since no medicine was aloud to come into the ghettos.
On September 29-30, 1941, a group of Nazis brought some Jews from the ghettos into a big field, and shot them, and dragged them off.
